• Are We Renaissance People?

    I learned a new word from a TED.com talk recently: “Multi-Potentialite.”  That’s a mouthful isn’t it?

It stuck with me because I relate to the idea. Basically it’s another way of saying “Renaissance Woman” (or Man). A person who has a wide array of interests and talents; someone who is not content to specialize in one field for their entire life, but prefers instead to “connect the dots” between different fields and develop new skill sets, for the pleasure of it.

Many people ask me why I have reinvented myself so many times. After 15 years in the dance field, I received my training as a therapeutic bodyworker and movement therapist. After 18 years doing that, I became a network marketing professional. Last year I started a greeting card company. A few months ago I added coaching and marketing services to what I offer friends in the healing arts to help them grow their private practices. I’m also working on several books, at least one of which will be published in 2017.

The hard thing to explain is that, from my perspective, I’m always doing the same thing, just in different ways. I want my professional life to be something that is creative, challenging, and – most of all – that solves a problem for someone else. I’ve just found there are many ways to do this and by continuing to evolve the “how” of my work life, I stay intrigued and happy myself.
